Mississippi State senior infielder Seth Heck received his undergraduate degree in business administration over the weekend.

Heck maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average during his four semesters in Starkville after transferring in from Tacoma (Wash.) Community College and was named the 2014 Southeastern Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Heck’s excellence in the classroom continues to be recognized after being named to the Capital One Academic All-District first team for District 6. The Edmonds, Wash., native will now be added to the CoSIDA Captial One Academic All-American ballot.

On the field, Heck has appeared in 49 games including 46 starts. He is hitting .293 with four doubles, 12 runs batted in and six stolen bases.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
