In 2012, Mississippi State hired Kansas assistant coach Aqua Franklin.
On Wednesday, the Jayhawks hired her back. Franklin was named Kansas’ associate head coach under new coach Brandon Schneider, who she worked for at Stephen F. Austin in 2010-11.
Franklin served on Vic Schaefer‘s staff for three seasons and played under him at Texas A&M.
“Aqua has been with me eight years as a player and coach, and while I hate to see her leave, I’m happy for her,” Schaefer said. “She has the opportunity to take that next step professionally as the associate head coach at Kansas and work with people that she’s very familiar with and I’m very familiar with. I’m disappointed to lose her. She has meant a lot to me personally and professionally. We are certainly excited for her in this next step of her coaching career.”
