Greg Pickett was the second Mississippi State commitment to hear his name called on Day 2 of the MLB Draft on Tuesday.

Pickett was picked by Philadelphia Phillies in the eight round (234th overall) as an outfielder out of Aurora, Colo. His draft slot holds a value of $173,900 and has until July 15 to sign with the Phillies.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound left-hande hitter was a Perfect Game first team All-American. Pickett batted .420 with seven doubles, six homers and 22 RBI as a senior at Legend High School.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
