Pontotoc’s Delvin Zinn became the fifth member of Mississippi State’s 2015 signing class to be selected in the MLB Draft.

Zinn was drafted in the 28th round (833rd) overall by the Chicago Cubs. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound shortstop batted .296 with seven doubles, one home run and 17 RBI as a senior for the Warriors. He only struck out seven times in 88 at bats.

Zinn is a career .325 hitter with 15 doubles, two triples, a homer and 40 RBIs during his varsity career. He was a Perfect Game All-American honorable mention and second team Southeast All-Region.

Zinn was also a basketball standout on the prep level.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
