Mississippi State senior quarterback Dak Prescott earned a spot as a second team Preseason All-American by Athlon Sports.

The publication also placed Prescott as its first team All-SEC signal caller earlier this month.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder from Haughton, La., completed 61.6 percent of his passes for 3,449 yards, 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season while also adding 1,125 yards rushing and 14 scores along with two catches for 35 yards and another touchdown.

The Southeastern Conference led the country with 10 first team All-Americans and 27 overall. Ohio State featured the most All-Americans with 11.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
