Mississippi State added three-star athlete Korey Charles to its 2016 class prior to Big Dawg Camp and reeled in another three-star athlete in Nero Nelson immediately following the conclusion of camp Friday night.

Nelson is product of Hollandale-Simmons and is rated the No. 16 prospect in Mississippi according to 247Sports.com. The 6-foot, 170-pounder is also considered the No. 24 athlete nationally.

Nelson also holds offers from Florida State, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisville, Memphis, Ole Miss and Southern Miss.

Nelson played quarterback, running back, wide receiver and cornerback for the Blue Devils but is expected to play in the secondary at MSU. He led Simmons to an 11-2 record as a junior and into the third round of the Class 2A state playoffs.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
