I’m back to work after taking my final week of vacation before the new sports year at Mississippi State starts Sunday as the football team reports back. The first practice begins on Monday but is not open to the public. The media will be allowed in for an hour during three practices next week and then shut down until bowl practices start.

So let’s catch you up on what went on while I was away…

Redshirt freshman pitcher Aaron Dominguez will not be returning to Mississippi State next season.

The Bulldogs released their non-conference schedule for men’s basketball.

I answered some questions for Jim Kleinpeter over at Nola.com about MSU’s upcoming football season.

Our own Parrish Alford wrote a piece on the home team’s advantage in the Egg Bowl of late.

Sophomore outfielder Joey Swinarski is transferring to Embry Riddle.

The Amway Coaches Poll was released and the Bulldogs were not among the top 25. State received 164 points which was 26th and two shy of Tennessee for the 25th spot.

NFL training camps got underway this week and here’s where you can find Mississippi State players scattered throughout the league.

The Bulldogs landed the commitment of one of the nation’s top linebacker prospects in Erroll Thompson of Florence, Ala.

Former MSU defensive tackle commitment Caleb Tillman of Dothan, Ala., has committed to Louisville.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
