Mississippi State added another member to its 2016 recruiting class in massive three-star offensive tackle Greg Eiland.

The 6-foot-7, 330-pounder from Philadelphia chose the Bulldogs over offers from Jacksonville State, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, Memphis, Ole Miss, San Diego State, Southern Miss and Texas.

Eiland is the 16th member of MSU’s class and ninth from an in-state program. He is also the fourth offensive lineman to commit in the class.

Eiland is rated the 20th best prospect in Mississippi and the No. 42 offensive tackle in the country by 247Sports.com. As a junior, he helped lead the Tornadoes to an 11-2 record and into the second round of the Class 3A playoffs.

Eiland is the second commitment of the weekend for the Bulldogs after landing the pledge of three-star linebacker Erroll Thompson of Florence, Ala., on Friday.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
