Mississippi State guard Xavian Stapleton was arrested on campus Saturday for driving with a suspended license.

The sophomore transfer from Louisiana Tech was pulled over for going 38 mph in a 20 mph zone on Stone Boulevard at 10:05 a.m. Stapleton was booked into the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office and released later that day.

The 6-foot-6, 190-pounder from Flora arrived at MSU last month and will be forced to sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Stapleton appeared in 36 games for Louisiana Tech last year averaging 6.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game and was second on the team with 23 blocks.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
