MSU Media Day: Chris Jones

Mississippi State junior defensive tackle Chris Jones talks about his expectations for training camp and the upcoming season and even fields a question from quarterback Dak Prescott.

On the depth on the defensive line…

“We have a lot of young guys. We are trying to get them to step up, and they have not had the snaps or the experience some of the older guys have.”

On his motivation to succeed…

“I always have a chip on my shoulder. People will always have doubts about you no matter what you do in life. I never get complacent with myself and always feel like I can do better.”

On how the team can improve from last season…

“We cannot go into this year thinking we are going to be like last year’s team. We have to be better than last year’s team. We have to overcome all of the obstacles we are going to face this season, and we have to be focused.”

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
