Four Mississippi State players were recognized on the Preseason Coaches All-SEC Team that was released on Tuesday.
Senior quarterback Dak Prescott and junior defensive lineman Chris Jones were voted to the first team. Senior cornerback Will Redmond was selected to the second team while senior defensive lineman Ryan Brown was picked to the third team.
Prescott broke 12 MSU records in 2014. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound senior from Haughton, La., completed 61.6 percent
of his passes for 3,449 yards, 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while rushing for an additional 986 yards and 14 more scores. He also caught two passes for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Jones appeared in all 13 games for the Bulldogs last season. The 6-foot-6, 308-pounder from Houston, finished with 26 tackles including 3 1/2 for loss, three sacks, two pass deflections and eight quarterback hurries.
Redmond played in a dozen games and recorded 51 tackles, three for loss, broke up eight passes and had two
quarterback hurries. The 6-foot, 186-pound senior from Memphis, Tenn., was also tied for the team lead with three interceptions.
Brown appeared in every game last fall with 12 starts. The 6-foot-6, 266-pounder from New Orleans finished with 39 tackles, seven stops for loss and 3 ½ sacks.
All 14 schools were represented led by Alabama and LSU with 10 representatives each. The Crimson Tide led the way with five players on the first team.
Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
