Mississippi State cornerback commitment Dontrel Allen has transferred back to East St. John (La.) High School and is eligible to play immediately for the Wildcats according to NOLA.com.

Allen was initially ruled ineligible on Sept. 2 by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association for enrolling at East Jefferson after being declared homeless.

The 6-foot, 181-pounder enrolled back at East St. John on Friday morning and was welcomed back to the football team by head coach Alden Foster. Allen is expected to suit up and play in the Wildcats home opener tonight against Madison Prep Academy.

The three-star prospect committed to the Bulldogs on June 8 over offers from Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, TCU, Troy and Tulane.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
