Mississippi State sophomore Logan Cooke has been placed on the midseason watch list for the Ray Guy Award, given annually to the nation’s top punter.

Cooke has punted 26 times this season for 1,086 yards, an average of 41.8 yards per punt. The 6-foot-5, 216-pounder from Darbun has pinned 11 of those punts inside the red zone and has nine of over 50-yards.

The longest punt of Cooke’s career was a 65-yarder against Troy this season.

The watch list will be reduced to 10 semifinalists on Nov. 13 and three finalists will be named on Nov. 23. The winner will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 10 on ESPN.

Utah’s Tom Hackett claimed last year’s Ray Guy Award.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
