Ben Howland continues to stockpile talent in Starkville.

Wednesday Missississippi State landed the commitment of 6-foot-10, 240-pound center Schnider Herard. The Plano, Texas native becomes the fourth four-star commitment for the Bulldogs in 2016.

Herard held a dozen offers and chose MSU over finalists Kansas, Purdue and Texas Tech. He is rated as the nation’s 43rd overall player, fifth-best center and No. 7 prospect in Texas by 247Sports.com.

Herard has guided Prestonwood Christian to back-to-back class 5A state titles. As a junior last season, Herard led the Lions averaging 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and three blocks per game.

The Bulldogs’ 2016 class is now ranked 10th nationally by 247Sports.com

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
