Mississippi State will pay tribute two of its own by holding a memorial service for football players Keith Joseph Sr. and Keith Joseph Jr. Thursday at 12:30 p.m. inside Humphrey Coliseum.

The father and son tragically lost their lives in a one-vehicle accident Friday afternoon on Highway 57 near Leakesville. Joseph Sr., 44, was a linebacker for the Bulldogs from 1989-92 while Joseph, Jr., 18, was a true freshman defensive end who was being redshirted this fall.

The caskets of both men will be on hand Thursday and the service is open to the public.

In addition, MSU will honor their memory with a moment of silence prior to Saturday’s game against Alabama and players will wear helmet decals with the initials “MJ”, which is what Joseph Jr. was know by to his teammates. Joseph Jr. was born Marshean Joseph.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
