Brown, Calhoun to play in Shrine Game

Two Mississippi State seniors have accepted invitations to play in the 91st East-West Shine Game after the season.

Defensive end Ryan Brown and cornerback Taveze Calhoun were announced as participants in the game by the Shine Game this week. The game will take place in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Jan. 23 at 4 p.m. on the NFL Network.

Brown, a 6-foot-6, 266-pounder from New Orleans, La., has made 35 tackles this season including 7.5 for loss, 2.5 sacks and broke up three passes. He has started 23 of 43 career games with 102 stops, 18 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.

Calhoun is currently tied for the team lead with two interceptions and had recorded 31 tackles including 5.5 for loss and five pass deflection. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder from Morton has made 33 starts in 47 games with 153 tackles, 11 for loss, six interceptions, 18 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and one recovery.

Offensive linemen Ben Beckwith and Dillon Day represented the Bulldogs in the Shrine Game last year.
