Mississippi State released its 2016 baseball schedule on Tuesday which is highlighted by 34 home games and 30 contests against teams that participated in the NCAA Tournament.

Four of State’s opponents reached the College World Series in Omaha last year – Vanderbilt, Florida, LSU and Arkansas.

The Diamond Dogs open the season on Feb. 19 with a round robin weekend series with Florida Atlantic and South Dakota State. MSU continues the homestand with Memphis on Feb. 23, a round robin against UMass Lowell and Nicholls State from Feb 26-28 and Alcorn State on March 1.

The Bulldogs will then travel to Los Angeles to take part in the Dodger Stadium Classic March 4-6 against UCLA, USC and Oklahoma. Their game against the Sooners will be played at Dodger Stadium on March 6.

State returns to Starkville versus South Alabama (March 8), Oregon (March 11-13), Eastern Kentucky (March 15) and Oral Roberts (March 16) before stepping into conference play.

The Bulldogs begin their SEC slate and first true road games at Vanderbilt on March 18-20. Mississippi State will also travel to Florida (April 8-10), LSU (April 22-24), Alabama (April 28-30), Troy (May 11) and Auburn (May 13-15).

John Cohen‘s club will host Georgia (March 24-26), Ole Miss (April 1-3), Missouri (May 5-7),

and Arkansas (May 19-21) in league play. Super Bulldog Weekend is slated for April 15-17 against Texas A&M.

In addition, the Diamond Dogs will play Southern Miss on March 29 and the Governor’s Cup against Ole Miss April 26 at Trustmark Park in Pearl. MSU will also take on Louisiana-Monroe at MGM Park in Biloxi on April 20.

The Bulldogs will also have midweek dates at Dudy Noble Field with Mississippi Valley State on March 22 and a doubleheader against UT Martin on April 5.

The SEC Tournament will be held May 24-29 in Hoover, Ala.
