Mississippi State baseball released a 41-man roster for the spring semester.

John Cohen must trim that roster down even further to 35 before the Diamond Dogs’ opening weekend series with Florida Atlantic and South Dakota State.

Five players that were on MSU’s fall roster were missing from the updated version released on Thursday. Freshman infielder Delvin Zinn (Pontotoc), senior infielder Matt Spruill, junior right-handed pitcher Cole Barlow and freshman left-handed hurlers Andrew Mahoney and Alex London were left off the roster.

Zinn was not cut by the Bulldogs per a source but opted to transfer to Itawamba Community College.

Area standouts Luke Alexander (Belmont) and Tanner Poole (Amory, ICC) did make the cut.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
