Mississippi State sophomore guard Victoria Vivians was recognized as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for her stellar showing in the Bulldogs’ four games last week.

Vivians averaged 14.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.3 steals in MSU’s four victories, three of which came as part of the Puerto Rico Classic. The Carthage native scored 10 points against Southern Miss in Starkville, added 15 points against both Florida Gulf Coast and Western Michigan and then put up 18 in the championship game against SMU.

Vivians has scored in double figures in 11 straight games and ranks second in the league averaging 18.3 points on the year. She earned SEC Freshman of the Week four times last year. Auburn’s Janiah McKay won it this week.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
