Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen has another vacancy to fill on his staff as defensive quality control coach Ephraim Banda has followed defensive coordinator Manny Diaz to Miami, joining Mark Richt‘s staff.

Banda will serve as safeties coach for the Hurricanes.

Banda spent one season in Starkville and served as interim safeties coach during practices leading up to the Belk Bowl in Tony Hughes‘ absence. Prior to MSU, Banda was a defensive graduate assistant at Texas from 2012-15.

Mullen must find replacements for Diaz, Hughes, Banda and head strength coach Rick Court. Assistant strength coach Nick Savage is expected to be promoted internally but a formal announcement has not yet been made.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
