Mississippi State has lost another underclassman to the NFL Draft.

Junior linebacker Beniquez Brown joins teammates De’Runnya Wilson and Chris Jones choosing to forgo his final year with the Bulldogs and turn pro.

Brown had been a starter for two-plus seasons in Starkville and finished his junior campaign second on the team 99 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass deflections and an interception. He also blocked a potential game-winning field goal on the final play at Arkansas.

The 6-foot-1, 238-pounder from Florence, Ala., concludes his 39-game collegiate career with 28 starts, 200 tackles, 22.5 for loss, six sacks and three interceptions.

Brown is the sixth underclassman to declare for the draft under Dan Mullen and fifth in the last two seasons.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
