Mississippi State may have finished 14th in the Southeastern Conference last season but enter this year as the No. 15 team in the nation according to D1Baseball.com.

The Diamond Dogs went 24-30 last season including an 8-22 mark in league play but return what is expected to be a talented roster headlined by junior pitchers Dakota Hudson and Zac Houston.

MSU represents of one of seven SEC clubs among the D1Baseball.com top 25 joining top-ranked Florida, No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 7 LSU, No. 17 South Carolina and No. 25 Arkansas.

John Cohen‘s club is the only team among the preseason top 25 to finish with a losing record in 2015.

It is the second preseason ranking for the Bulldogs, who was also ranked 11th by Collegiate Baseball.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
