Mississippi State’s Victoria Vivians was one of 20 players from around the country to be selected for the Wooden Award midseason watch list.

The Wooden Award is presented annually to the top women’s college basketball player.

Vivians currently leads the Southeastern Conference at 18 points per game and has scored in double figures in 17 straight games.

“I appreciate the Wooden Award committee for selecting me to the midseason watch list alongside some outstanding players,” Vivians said. “There’s still a lot of basketball left this season, so I have to continue working hard so I can help our team reach our goal of competing for a championship.”

The 6-foot-1 Carthage native is one of just six sophomores selected to the watch list and one of four players from the SEC joining Tennessee’s Diamond DeShields and South Carolina’s Tiffany Mitchell and A’ja Wilson.

The late season watch list will be revealed next month and will be narrowed further to 15 finalists prior to the NCAA Tournament. The Wooden Award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show.

UConn forward Breanna Stewart won the Wooden Award last season.
