It appears the drama surrounding Meridian four-star defensive tackle Raekwon Davis has ended.

The longtime Alabama commitment gave conflicting stories to different sides following an official visit to Mississippi State two weeks ago. Davis told Alabama reporters that he remained committed to the Crimson Tide and MSU reporters that he had flipped to the Bulldogs.

The 6-foot-7, 327-pound U.S. Army All-American cleared the air Wednesday night following an in-home visit with Alabama’s Nick Saban.

Davis tweeted “First and foremost, I would like the thank then man above. It has been an extremely long journey. So I take this time to thank all the recruiters that helped me throughout my recruitment. I appreciate all the things everyone has done for me. To Coach Orgeron, you have made a major impact on my life and I thank you for it. Today I decided that I will spend the next 3 to 4 year at The University of Alabama. Roll Tide”

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
