For the second straight year, Mississippi State women’s basketball has been recognized as the NCAA Team of the Week.

The Bulldogs received the honor after earning their first ever victory over Tennessee 65-63 in overtime and winning at Arkansas 65-55 last week, improving to 19-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

As a result, MSU climbed two spots to No. 11 in the Associated Press poll and have now been ranked for 31 consecutive weeks.

The NCAA also released its initial top 10 ranking for seeding in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs received consideration but finished just outside the top 10 along with Florida State, Louisville and Texas A&M.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
