Mississippi State made a major splash on national signing day by inking the state’s top prospect in Noxubee County five-star Jeffery Simmons.
The 6-foot-4, 277-pound defensive end chose the Bulldogs over 13 other offers including other finalists Alabama and Ole Miss.
Simmons is also rated the No. 3 strong-side defensive end and the nation’s 19th overall prospect by 247Sports.com. He was also a U.S. Army All-American.
As a senior, Simmons made 105 tackles, 20.5 for loss, 18.5 sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and five blocked kicks. He also rushed for four touchdowns and caught another.
Simmons is MSU’s highest rated signing since fellow five-star defensive end Chris Jones in 2013.
