For the second time this season, Mississippi State’s Quinndary Weatherspoon has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week.

Weatherspoon led the Bulldogs in scoring in wins over Vanderbilt and Alabama last week. He scored a career-high 24 points and hit the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer against the Commodores and followed up with 15 points against the Crimson Tide. He was also featured at No. 1 and No. 2 on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top Plays.

The 6-foot-4 guard from Canton was also named SEC Freshman of the Week on Nov. 30 and is the first MSU player since Craig Sword to earn the honor multiple times in a season.

Weatherspoon shared the honor with Texas A&M Tyler Davis. Tennessee’s Armani Moore was the SEC Player of the Week.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
