Mississippi State sophomore right fielder Brent Rooker was selected as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week following his contributions to the 15th-ranked Bulldogs’ 4-0 run last week.
Rooker went 7-for-12 at the plate with a double, two home runs, seven RBIs and four runs scored. His pinch-hit two-run double in the bottom of the sixth plated the go-ahead runs for MSU against South Alabama.
Rooker also collected a career-best three hits in both the Friday and Sunday wins over Oregon and has homered twice in his last nine at bats.
The Germantown, Tennessee native is batting .377 with six doubles, one triple, two homers, two stolen bases and a team-high 20 RBIs this season.
Rooker is the first Diamond Dog to receive the honor since Nick Ammirati on April 23, 2013.
