Mississippi State picked up its sixth commitment for 2017 on Monday when Walnut three-star wide receiver Monterio Hunt made his pledge.
Hunt announced his decision via Twitter but also stated that he still plans to visit other schools. He also holds an offer from South Alabama and is receiving interest from Memphis and Ole Miss.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder broke his leg in Walnut’s season-opener last fall and missed the remainder of the season. As a sophomore, Hunt caught 24 passes for 606 yards and 10 touchdowns and also added 449 rushing yards and nine more scores.
Hunt’s grandfather Larry Gaillard and uncle Michael Haddix played at Mississippi State as well as in the NFL.
