The excitement of Super Bulldog Weekend spilled over to the recruiting trail as Mississippi State reeled in four in-state commitments Saturday.
Three-star prospects Aaron Odom, Austin Williams and Paul Gainer were added to the 2017 class while four-star Malik Heath joined the fold for 2018.
Odom is a 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive end from Callaway who chose the Bulldogs over offers from Alabama, Florida State, Indiana, Louisiana-Lafayette, Memphis, Ole Miss and Southern Miss. He is rated as the No. 9 prospect in
Mississippi having made 124 tackles, 28 for loss, 18 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery as a junior.
Williams is a 6-foot-3, 202-pound wide receiver from Ocean Springs who picked MSU over a dozen other offers. He is the No. 24 prospect in the State having made 56 catches for 928 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
Gainer is a 6-foot-4, 275-pound offensive tackle from Gauiter who committed to the Bulldogs over offers from Louisiana-Lafayette, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss and UT-San Antonio. He is rated Mississippi’s 25th best recruit.
Heath is a 6-foot-3, 194-pound receiver, also from Callaway, that caught 10 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown as a sophomore. He is the No. 5 prospect in Mississippi choosing State over early offer from Louisville, Miami and Ole Miss.
