Last meeting: The Tigers won the series in Starkville last year, taking the first two games 5-3 in 14 innings and 11-4. MSU won the finale 8-7 in 12 innings.

About the Bulldogs: Mississippi State is 8-8 against top 25 opponents this season…The Bulldogs have not won a series in Baton Rouge since 2006…MSU is hitting .314 with two outs after batting only .243 in that circumstance last year…Freshman LHP Kale Breaux was previously committed to LSU…MSU is 8-15 against the Tigers under John Cohen…The Bulldogs rank third in the SEC hitting .309 and lead the league with 87 doubles…Junior OF Reid Humphreys is tied for the SEC lead with 15 doubles.

About the Tigers: LSU has not lost a series to the Bulldogs since 2006…The Tigers lead the SEC with only 168 strikeouts and 66 stolen bases and ranks second in triples with 15…LSU is 18-7 at Alex Box Stadium this spring…The Tigers have won their last three SEC series over Auburn, Vanderbilt and Missouri…LSU is riding a five-game winning streak…Junior OF Jake Fraley ranks second in the SEC with 19 steals.
