Mississippi State’s annual Governor’s Cup game with in-state rival Ole Miss has been pushed back to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Governor’s Cup is held at Trustmark Park, home of the Mississippi Braves, and will be televised this year by SEC Network.

The Bulldogs will serve as the home team for this year’s match-up.

State will send freshman right-hander Ryan Cyr (1-0, 0.00 ERA) to the mound for his first start while the Rebels go with junior righty Chad Smith (3-3, 4.99).

The Mayor’s Trophy/ Governor’s Cup series is nodded at 18 wins each. MSU leads the overall series 246-205-5 against the Rebels and is 5-4 all-time against Ole Miss in the Governor’s Cup.

The Rebels claimed the Governor’s Cup with a dominant 11-1 victory behind 15 hits and seven shutout innings from Scott Weathersby.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
