Mississippi State’s Malik Newman has received an invitation to the NBA Scouting Combine in Chicago May 10-15.
Newman declared for the NBA Draft but has not hired an agent, leaving a return to Starkville a possibility.
“If it’s second round, I’m pretty sure I’ll be back,” Newman said in a press conference on March 22.
The 6-foot-3 guard will have until June 13 to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft, which takes place 10 days later.
Newman started 22 of the 29 games he appeared in as a freshman averaging 11.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists. The former McDonald’s All-American was hampered by turf toe, knee and back injuries throughout the year.
