Hudson selected as Howser Trophy Semifinalist

Mississippi State junior pitcher Dakota Hudson has been named a semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy which is presented annually to the top player in college baseball.

The 6-foot-5 right-hander from Dunlap, Tennessee is 9-3 on the year with a 2.29 earned run average. Hudson has 101 strikeouts and 29 walks in 98 1/3 innings spanning 14 starts this spring.

Hudson is one of 43 players to be selected as a semifinalist and joins seven others from the Southeastern Conference.

Finalists will be announced on June 9 and the winner selected on June 17.

Former Arkansas outfielder Andrew Benintendi won the Howser Trophy last year.
