West Point four-star athlete Marcus Murphy committed to Mississippi State on Tuesday.

Mississippi State remained red hot on the recruiting trail with the addition of 2018 four-star athlete Marcus Murphy of West Point.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder is already the Bulldogs’ third commitment for 2018 in a class that is rated fourth nationally.

Murphy is rated the No. 14 athlete in the country and the second overall prospect in Mississippi according to 247Sports.com.

He announced his decision via Twitter stating “I’ve made my decision, I’ve talked to my parent & a couple of friends about my decision. I’ve decided to “VERBALLY COMMIT” to Mississippi State University. I would still love to let other teams recruit me & show interest in my talent. I will continue to keep GOD first & stay humble GO BULLDOGS”

Murphy played both quarterback and running back for the Green Wave as a sophomore last fall. He rushed for 1,615 yards and 16 touchdowns, threw for 770 yards and nine more scores and also caught two touchdowns.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
