Mississippi State will host Arizona for an NCAA Super Regional at Dudy Noble Field with a trip to the College World Series on the line.

The best of three series will begin Friday on ESPN2 while Saturday’s game will be shown on ESPNU. One of those two channels will carry Sunday’s game should it be necessary. All games at the Starkville Super Regional will start at 5 p.m.

The Bulldogs (44-16-1) reached a Super Regional by sweeping through their own regional over Southeast Missouri State, Cal State Fullerton and Louisiana Tech. Arizona (42-21) advanced in the Lafayette Regional losing to the Ragin Cajuns 10-3 in the first game but reeling off three straight wins against Sam Houston State (6-5) and Louisiana-Lafayette (6-3, 3-1).

MSU was met the Wildcats 15 times previously and as recently as last year but this will be the first meeting between the two in the postseason. The Diamond Dogs lead the series 11-4 and swept a two game series from Arizona last year in Starkville by scores of 4-2 and 6-2.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
