Daniel Brown became the first Mississippi State draftee to sign a professional contract.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound left-handed pitcher agreed to a $225,500 contract with the Milwaukee Brewers according to MLB.com writer Jim Callis. The Brewers took Brown in the seventh round with the 201st overall pick.

Brown signed for the exact slot value of his selection.

The Mount Vernon, Texas native pitched in 23 games as a junior this past season including six starts. Brown was 4-2 with two saves, a 3.62 ERA, 54 strikeouts and 18 walks over 54 2/3 innings.

Brown is the first Bulldog to sign with Milwaukee since Brandon Woodruff in 2014.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
