The St. Louis Cardinals signed two-thirds of Mississippi State’s weekend pitching rotation on Saturday.

The Cardinals signed first round selection Dakota Hudson as well as 18th round pick (556th overall) Austin Sexton. St. Louis also inked Bulldog signee Walker Robbins, who was a fifth round pick.

Sexton made 17 starts as a junior with an 8-3 record and a 3.56 earned run average. The right-hander from Huntsville, Alabama struck out 98 batters in 101 innings of work.

Sexton joins former teammates Hudson, Daniel Brown, Nathaniel Lowe, Zac Houston and Jacob Robson to sign professional contracts.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
