Mississippi State landed its 16th commitment as Grenada three-star outside linebacker JJ Russell joined the fold.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder received his offer from the Bulldogs on Friday and committed the following day. Russell also has offers from California, Cincinnati, Kansas, Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, South Alabama, Southern Miss and Tulane.

Russell is ranked the No. 31 prospect in Mississippi and the 83rd best outside linebacker in the country by 247Sports.com.

As a junior, Russell racked up 81 tackles, 16 for loss, five sacks, forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
