Mississippi State landed the 17th member of its 2016 class on Wednesday with the commitment of three-star safety Kaleb Oliver.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder from Murfreesboro, Tennessee chose the Bulldogs over offers from Louisville, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

Oliver is rated the 19th best prospect in Tennessee and the No. 44 safety in the nation by 247Sports.com.

As a junior at Oakland High School, Oliver made 99 tackles, 12.5 for loss, three sacks, five interceptions, two pass deflections and forced two fumbles.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
