Missing from Mississippi State’s fall roster released Monday is Deontay Evans.

The senior safety has elected to transfer from the university according to a team spokesman.

Evans appeared in all 39 games during his three-year career with the Bulldogs including one start. The 5-foot-10, 204-pounder from McComb made 86 career tackles including one for loss, deflected five passes and forced a fumble.

Evans made 33 tackles for MSU last season and broke up a pair of passes. He made his only start against Northwestern State last fall and had a career-best 10 tackles in the 2014 Orange Bowl.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
