Grenada three-star linebacker JJ Russell has reopened his recruitment and de-committed from Mississippi State.

Russell announced his decision via Twitter stating “I just want to start off by saying thank you to the Mississippi State’s coaching staff and everyone else that has helped me but I will be decommitting from Mississippi State and reopening my recruitment.”

The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder had been committed to the Bulldogs since June 18. He also holds offers from California, Cincinnati, Kansas, Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, South Alabama, Southern Miss and Tulane.

Russell has made 29 tackles, two for loss and a sack during Grenada’s 3-0 start.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
