Mississippi State director of athletics Scott Stricklin has been identified as one of the leading candidates to succeed Florida’s Jeremy Foley in the same position.
Foley announced his retirement over the summer effective on Oct. 1.
Stricklin, an MSU alum and native of Jackson, has served as the Bulldogs’ athletic director since 2010 and also worked as MSU’s senior associate AD of external affairs from 2008-10 and assistant media relation from 1990-92.
Stricklin has also worked at Auburn, Tulane, Baylor and Kentucky during his career.
According to a 2013 report by USA Today, Stricklin’s salary at MSU was $450,000 while Foley’s was $1.4 million – making Florida the third highest paying AD job.
