Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen joined the rest of the league coaches on the SEC Teleconference on Wednesday.

Here is a transcript of Mullen’s time on the call:

Opening comment:

Mullen: “We’ve got to come back from last week’s loss working hard and responding well out there on the field. It’s another tough road challenge having to go up to the Northeast. It’s a great, great opportunity to go play in an NFL stadium in a great environment. I know our guys are excited about that opportunity and are ready to get back out and get back on a winning track.”

Can you assess the way Danny Etling played last week for LSU?

Mullen: “I thought he did a good job in the first half getting the ball out early and on time. He was able to get the ball out before pressure got to him. He, especially in the first half, was pretty accurate with his throws which is important for them because they’ve got such great wide receivers to give them opportunties to go catch the ball.”

It’s unusual for Mississippi State to travel to UMass, was this game scheduled a long time ago or were you involved in this?

Mullen: “I was involved in the scheduling of this game. It was something we looked at as an opportunity to schedule some games playing in a location where the stadium is and for guys to get to to play in an NFL stadium and venue. I think that had a lot to do with the scheduling of this game.”

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
