Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze says his team has more confidence than it did a week ago with the Rebels now having a win under their belts.
He called today’s work a “spirited Tuesday practice.”
Among the spirited players was running back Jeff Scott, who had a good day of work and appears on track to play in Saturday’s game against UTEP. The same for wide receiver Collins Moore, though Freeze said it’s a little harder to evaluate Moore unless the ball is thrown to him. Obviously you don’t get that every play in a practice.
Offensive line coach Matt Luke told us on Monday that he’s still trying to nail down his top eight or nine guys. In some years the OL could make do with seven players if everyone stayed healthy. That’s not an ideal situation, but that really not an option if you’re going to run as much up-tempo as Freeze wants to run. Luke said freshman Ben Still is close to getting into that group of eight that will play. The biggest thing Still needs now is confidence, Luke says.
The freshmen, some of them, are beginning to be made available for interviews, and here are a couple of videos on Still and running back Jaylen Walton. Walton had a 10-yard touchdown run in the win over Central Arkansas.
