Friday Chat

The blog move to WordPress had been in the works for a long time when last Friday’s chat took on more of an individual rights discussion.

It seems the new format has cut down on the “drive by” comments, which should make for better conversation.

We’re still working out bugs and getting used to things. Leave us your feedback.

Leave your feedback on the Rebels too. There’s a lot of confidence around this team right now, but there’s a step up in competition in each of the next two weeks. It’s good that the Rebels are feeling better about themselves, but it’s important to remember that the season opener was against a I-AA opponent (I-AA just makes more sense than FCS).

There were a lot of good things to come from a 49-27 win over Central Arkansas but some concerns too, most notably stretches of time along both lines.

Can the Rebels get better along the defensive line interior?

Leave us your thoughts on football or anything else Ole Miss.

It’s Errand Friday. I’ll be handling various domestic responsibilities and will be checking the blog throughout the day.

  • I think moving to WordPress is a good move. It has already cut down on the junk being posted here. Keep up the good work PA.
I’m hoping the D line gets better and the O line too for that matter. If not we will be in for a long year. This game should give us a good indication of how they will play this year.

Agreed. I think you’ll learn a lot from this game. The opener was much more encouraging than discouraging, but they clearly need to get better on both lines.

  • I guess I am logging in on my facebook but it does not shown up on my facebook account. Does not really matter just happy to continue on the blog since I have been on here way back when maybe Tuberville was Rebel coach or later than that. the Rebels had some very good baseball teams in those days but never lucky enough to make the trip to Omaha. Hopeful that will change soon for the Diamond Rebels. And this football team has restored some of that old lost Rebel spirit that I once had. No more said about this football team, I don’t want to bring them bad luck. Thanks PA and DJ Todd for bring Ole Miss sports to us that live in the wilderness of NW Florida.

JB, you were one of the originals. The coach was David Cutcliffe, and the blogs came about not long after we changed beats. What’s your take on Florida and Texas A&M. I picked Florida but only because the Aggies haven’t played a game yet and will start a redshirt freshman at quarterback. Thought the Gators were rather pedestrian last week.

  • Parrish, I am concerned when the Rebels get hit in the face by UTEP, do they have enough confidence to hit back harder? Is Jeff Scott 100%?

  • PA I am going with the Gators, they are big and fast, they had some trouble last week, but they like Ole Miss at the beginning of season had QB questions, now they will go with

Jeff Driskel as the Rebels are with BO. The FSU Noles are the team to watch, even tho they lost their defensive player, but they are deep in talent and have a very good QB in EJM.

John, I think you’ll see the Rebels fight and compete. There were several things very high on the “to do” list for Hugh Freeze. Discipline was one of those things. Competing for 60 minutes is another. I think they will play hard. I’m not sure yet how good they will be on the DL interior.

  • i can sort of understand what the defensive coach was talking about last week when talked about the defensive line being too dominant. as i was watching the game, the defensive line seemed to push their offensive line way back but it just wasnt working for some reason. then they were able to adjust at the half and it showed on the field. i think we are going to be able pull out a win saturday.

  • This is just nitpicking and will come in time I am sure. The flow of the comments can be a little smoother by hitting reply under the comment that you are replying to. We all got so used to not having that option, I think it will get better as we get more used to the new system.

Please understand that I am not being critical of anyone, just wanting everyone’s experience to be the best it can be.

  • Adam, how did you link your picture in the disqus?
