Highlights from Hugh Freeze and his time on the SEC teleconference …
We’re disappointed coming off lop-sided loss to Texas. We were not able to sustain a high level of play. It was an electric atmopshere. We’re thrilled with that, and we had a lot of great recruits here to see what the atmopshere can be like.
I’ve heard different reports. I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen there. We’re trying to prepare for what we’ve seen on film. We recruited the back-up quarterback a little bit when I first got here, so I’m aware of him also. I’m sure they’ll try to do the same type things. We’ll prepare for what we’ve seen on film and adjust accordingly.
(Tulane defensive line)
When you watch them against Rutgers, a really good rushing football team, they held Rutgers to 150 yards. The second game they had some adversity hit them, and they were a little different football team, which you can understand. We’re preparing to play a very physical defensive line and has technique that was very sound. Our offensive line is thin, and we’re always concerned about physical defensive line play.
(Changes in the secondary)
We’ve given up too many deep balls, not something we’re accustomed to. Some of the time we’ve been in position to make plays and do not, some of the time we’re not. We’ll play some young kids this week and see how they handle being in the live bullets.
