Wednesday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Wednesday morning. …

While Ole Miss is trying to improve its ball-protection and reduce turnovers heading into Saturday night’s game against Texas A&M, the Aggies are trying to reduce penalties. A&M was one of the nation’s most penalized teams last year but early in Kevin Sumlin’s first season has made gains in that area.

Emily Bevan of Austin writes that the Aggies are getting significant contributions from a number of young players, not just redshirt freshman QB Johnny Manziel. From Houston, Brent Zwerneman writes that Sumlin has respect for the Rebels, calling them “a team playing with a lot of energy and that’s well-coached.”

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze and Sumlin are friends, and the two spoke on Tuesday. …

From Baton Rouge, after struggling with Auburn on the road and to some degree Towson State at home, LSU coach Les Miles is looking for more from the Tigers as they face No. 10 Florida on the road, one of two top-10 matchups involving SEC teams this weekend. …

From Knoxville, after Tennessee’s comeback bid fell short at Georgia, Vols coach Derek Dooley says his team must execute better on offense. …

will Miller from Fulton fit what type of QB needed for the Offense down the road.
or will they need to go after a qb in recruiting. Do the three from last year struggle because they are not suited for this type of offense or is it a talent issue.
Since ELI we really have not had a recruited QB that came in and was a starter after their freshman year. Sneed was ok but could not stay consistent. Even he was a transfer. Seems like Eli was the last recruited QB. Cutcliff did have the kid after eli
(spurlock ?) but he was ok at best. After him seems like all QB have come either from juco or did not make it at where they were and transfered in or were booted from where they were at

  • Mantachie, they’ve got two QB commits they’re pretty high on. Maikhail Miller has done some good things this year. We’ll see how he develops, but they are continuing to recruit the position hard.
