  • PA, I’m not complaining, but I’d love to get your thoughts on why you have MS State below Texas A&M and South Carolina. Do you think they are overrated, or just that they haven’t proven anything yet b/c they haven’t played anyone? I haven’t decided yet. This weekend will give everyone a better idea of where they really are.

  • I think we will see what Miss State has to offer this week when they meet the Tide, It could be that MSU beats Alabama. not surprising. I think that State handle the Tide pretty good in the past and they could do it again this week.. AS a fan of the unbeaten Gators, I don’t they can beat the FSU Noles, but we will find out soon. The Gator are very good, big, strong and deep in talent.

Brian, here’s the thinking. I try not to get too caught up in one game. South Carolina is still 6-2. They were not bad against LSU and had chances to win. They dominated Georgia. They have played three of the top teams in the SEC. If they lay another egg I’ll drop them. I think Texas A&M is pretty good on offense. They’ve lost two SEC games to top 10 teams. I think MSU is pretty good. Their ranking stuff will work itself out soon.

I think you are right on PA. Each week these things change because some teams grow and develop more as the year goes on. We really haven’t seen State play anyone who was on their A-game, no pun intended. If State beats Alabama, I’m sure they will go up in everyone’s power ranking. As it stands, they haven’t played anybody. We’ve seen A&M and SC play some big time opponents. We know basically that any SEC team is capable of pulling an upset on any given week. If State plays Alabama closer than Ole Miss did or beats them, then I move them up to 3rd or 4th.

On to another subject, Does Dooley have to beat South Carolina this week in order to keep his job at Tennessee?

  • Parrish Alford

Ghost, I’ve seen speculation that Dooley needed to not just win seven or eight games but win the right games. He has now lost to Florida, Georgia, Alabama and MSU. He can get a quality win this week of the Vols upset South Carolina. If they don’t, the Vols could still win seven games. That would require sweeping Troy, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Kentucky. If his future is based on winning in the SEC it would be hard to call 3-5 a success. That’s what the Vols would be in league play if they lose at SC then win out.
