Among the problems for Texas coach Mack Brown in a 5-2 start is the Longhorn Network. There’s mention of Arkansas coach John L. Smith here too and his recruiting work during the Razorbacks’ bye week. Ole Miss faces Arkansas Saturday morning at 11:21 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. More on Smith here with a Youtube take-off on his presser following the Alabama game where he encouraged the Arkansas media contingent to smile. That pressure generated a lot of Youtube creativity. From Athens, special teams play hasn’t been a strength for Georgia, and Bulldogs coach Mark Richt says he’s considering making that his own responsibility … next season. As for the remainder of this season, the Bulldogs were placed back in the thick of the SEC East race when South Carolina lost at Florida. For Georgia to take full advantage of that good fortune it must win against Florida in Jacksonville this week. Georgia might be able to accomplish that if it doesn’t allow Florida coach Will Muschamp to “overcome the adversity on the field.”

From Columbia, the Missouri one, there will be relief for someone this weekend, because college football games can no longer end in a tie. Either SEC newcomer Missouri or SEC veteran Kentucky will get its first SEC win. In search of its inaugural SEC win, Missouri is expected to again be without James Franklin, its starting quarterback. …
